Came across this whilst searching to see if anyone else had tried the simple delights of a chorizo and banana sandwich. I thought I might have made this combination up but obviously not!

Alternate slices of chorizo and banana between two slices of wholemeal bread with a little spread of butter. A firm squash down with the hand and hey presto! A spicy yet refreshing lunch.

I came across this recipe basically the same way. I bought The Olive and the Caper and was browsing through when I saw this recipe. My first thought was "who would go to the trouble of actually creating a recipe for a fried egg?" Then, "who would put a recipe for a fried egg in a cook book?". So I tried it and am now the king of fried eggs! All visitors think I'm nuts when I serve them a bowl of hot olive oil with an egg in the middle - then they try it and now demand it whenever they are here.

This isn't nesting so much as "renovation we've been talking about for a long time that we are finally able to pay for".

Whether or not it will be ready before the kid arrives, I do not know.

The only good grilled cheese sandwich is one made with crappy ingredients. Nobody knows why this is true. It's as close as mankind has discovered to true alchemy.

Damn it, now I want a grilled cheese sandwich.

Candy onions are mild and quite sweet. The number you need depends on the size -- I used two because mine were small/medium.

I tried to find you a picture of frenched onions, but Google has failed me! The clearest short way I can think of to explain is that they're sliced into arcs by cutting 90 degrees from the direction you'd cut to make onion rings.

The fried onions one buys in a can (if one does such things) are usually made from frenched onions.
