I came across this recipe basically the same way. I bought The Olive and the Caper and was browsing through when I saw this recipe. My first thought was "who would go to the trouble of actually creating a recipe for a fried egg?" Then, "who would put a recipe for a fried egg in a cook book?". So I tried it and am now the king of fried eggs! All visitors think I'm nuts when I serve them a bowl of hot olive oil with an egg in the middle - then they try it and now demand it whenever they are here.

[...] Greek Fried Egg A while ago, someone — either my husband or my mother-in-law — gave me a copy of The Olive and the Caper: Adventures in Greek Cooking, by Susanna Hoffman. I haven’t made a lot from it, but everything I’ve made has been delicious.
